Apodemus - Medical Research and Development

The research company Apodemus AB discovered the previously unknown Ljungan virus in the mid-1990s. The first findings were made among bank voles by the river Ljungan in Medelpad, Sweden. It has thereafter been established that the Ljungan virus causes several serious illnesses in both animals and humans.

The company’s research of Ljungan virus infection is directed towards the development of diagnostics, treatment as well as preventive measures.
